Yodhasthal, a prominent ‘Know your Army (KYA)’ facility being created for Bhopalites was inaugurated here on Wednesday at Dronachal complex in Bhopal Military station.

Yodhasthal is a another popular tourist place in Bhopal that is known for the display of various arms & ammunitions used by defence forces. The place offers quite engrossing information to the tourists – especially the kids – about war stories and victories. The place has various sections. The AV displays of Prekshagriha, the information nuggets of wars available at Parichay, the unique facts displayed at Avishkar, the display of arms used in past battles at Army Astra Shastra, and the souvenir shop are the highlights of the museum.

With an aim to provide enriching audio-visual experience of the modern Indian Army and its association with the people of Madhya Pradesh, the Yodhasthal facility is specifically dedicated to the youth of Bhopal.

Located in an aesthetically appealing and landscaped park, Yodhasthal was inaugurated by Major General Narinder Pal Singh, General Officer Commanding of Headquarters Bhopal Sub Area. He was present as the Chief Guest of the function at Yodhasthal.

Besides, as many as 600 school children were also present at the inaugural function and gave mesmerising performances. The inaugural function commenced with Band display by Army Public School and St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School (Idgah Hills), Bhopal, followed by martial music performance by EME Centre Band Bairagarh.

With a motive to create awareness among the youngsters through the exhibition, they would explore the finery of the Indian Army and would also commit to this profession.

Notably, there are six sections at Yodhasthal comprising of ‘Prekshgrah’, an audio-video center where short films of Military historical value are screened and one can learn about modern Indian Army. Parichay, an information centre where one can browse through a variety of interesting displays and reading material and gain an insight into the traditions and ethos of Indian Army, Avishkar, the e-discovery enclosure giving knowledge on lesser known facts of Indian Army Astra Shastra, this enclosure will enlighten the visitors about few empts which took part in army battles, Alpaahar here visitors can enjoy refreshment savoring the beauty of sunset sitting next to a beautiful water fountain. Swagat Kaksh, from here the visitors can take home unique memorabilia to remind them of a day well spent.

The school children and general public enjoyed visiting Yodhasthal whole heartedly. The initiative of the Army in Bhopal was .widely appreciated in the environment. The effort is on to bring this facility created by the Army, listed on tourist map of Bhopal through Government channels.
